Arsenal Eyes Osimhen as Mbappe Heads to Real Madrid: Chelsea's £111m Clause Trigger Plans

Reports suggest that Arsenal's pursuit of Victor Osimhen has received a boost following Real Madrid's apparent success in securing Kylian Mbappe's signature, despite Chelsea's intentions to activate Osimhen's £111 million release clause.

Numerous sources indicate that Mbappe is set to join Real Madrid after informing Paris Saint-Germain of his decision not to extend his contract beyond the summer. Real Madrid reportedly had contingency plans in place, including potential moves for players like Osimhen, if their bid for Mbappe failed.

According to Spanish outlet Marca, Mbappe has already finalized terms with Real Madrid, committing to a five-year deal with the club. This development has left Premier League clubs, including Arsenal, Liverpool, and Manchester City, unable to compete with the allure of Real Madrid's offer to Mbappe.

However, Mbappe's imminent move to Real Madrid could present an opportunity for Arsenal to secure Osimhen. Spanish publication Nacional suggests that Mbappe's departure "opens the door" for Osimhen to join Arsenal, with the Gunners keen not to miss out on signing the Napoli striker during the upcoming summer transfer window.

Arsenal's manager Mikel Arteta and sporting director Edu are reportedly at the forefront of the club's efforts to sign Osimhen, viewing him as the key addition to elevate the team's status. Osimhen, who has impressed with seven goals and two assists in 13 Serie A appearances this season, is seen as the primary target to bolster Arsenal's attacking lineup.

Despite Arsenal's interest, Osimhen has attracted attention from several top clubs, including PSG, Chelsea, Manchester United, Newcastle United, Bayern Munich, and Juventus. Chelsea, in particular, is said to be prepared to activate Osimhen's release clause of €130 million (£111 million), as indicated by reliable Italian journalist Rudy Galetti.

Former Arsenal and Chelsea defender William Gallas has voiced his expectation that Osimhen will make a move to the Premier League in the summer transfer window. Gallas likened Osimhen's playing style to that of Chelsea legend Didier Drogba, highlighting the striker's strength and speed as similar attributes to the iconic Blues forward.
